The Architect

Magqwaka Associates Architects is a fully black-owned (100%) dynamic architectural practice with a reputation of integrity, professionalism and quality service and architecture. They have been involved in many high profile projects in the Western and Eastern Cape for private and public sectors.

The firm was established 24 years ago (July 1998), by Dr Mlamli Magqwaka whose architectural qualifications include a PhD in Architecture from the University of York in England.

Some of the projects that they have been involved with include:

The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), the Cape Union Mart retail outlet at the Cape Town Waterfront, the Lookout Hill Tourist Facility (a first in Cape Town’s townships), the Khayelitsha Railway Extension Project, 90 Plein Street Renovations, The Mitchells Plain District Hospital, 4 Secondary Schools and the Le Zwaans Security Complex in Retreat along with several other private projects.

Tutili Place in Diep River is the latest pioneering residential project to be undertaken by Magqwaka Associates Architects. It is one of the first in Cape Town to offer inclusionary housing with 83% of the units in the first phase falling into the “inclusionary housing” framework.
